RI sets diplomatic relation with Saint Kitts and Nevis

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Indonesia has recently set up diplomatic relations with the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, marked by the signing of a Joint Communique at New York, UN’s headquarters.

The joint communiqu was signed between Indonesian Permanent Representative to the United Nation Ambassador Desra Percaya and his Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis’ counterpart Ambassador Delano Frank.

“Although we have cooperated in various sectors before, the signing of the joint communique marks the formality of our bilateral relations,” Ambassador Desra stated in a press release received here on Monday.

According to the ambassador, there were various sectors in which Indonesia and the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis could work together on, namely promotion of tourism potential between the two countries.

Currently Indonesia has diplomatic relations with 185 member countries of the United Nations. In 2011-2013 Indonesia had set diplomatic relations with ten countries namely Mauritania, El Salvador, San Marino, Montenegro, Dominican Republic, Niger, Sao Tome and Principe, Antigua and Barbuda, Bhutan, Botswana, Tuvalu, Haiti, Nauru and Kiribati.

Saint Kitts and Nevis are a pair of tropical islands located in the Caribbean (North America).
